Cristiano Ronaldo Pokes Fun at Lionel Messi during Interview

Cristiano Ronaldo often downplays his rivalry with Lionel Messi, saying that the whole thing is often exaggerated by the sports media. However during a recent interview with British talk show host Jonathan Ross, the Real Madrid superstar couldn't resist poking fun at the Barcelona forward.

Ronaldo was on the show to discuss his new film aptly titled 'Ronaldo' - a biopic/documentary that explores his career and rise to fame. Ross' asked Ronaldo why the filmmakers behind the project chose to document his life as opposed to Messi's to which the three-time Ballon D'Or winner cheekily responded: "Okay, I understand them because they were looking for the best player in the world, so.....".

The answer was met with laughs and cheers from the studio audience.

Ronaldo had nothing but good things to say about Messi otherwise; admitting that the Argentine has all but secured a fifth golden ball after his remarkable season that saw Barcelona win an unprecedented Treble.

"To be honest I think Messi is going to win this year because this kind of trophy, it depends on votes." Said Ronaldo. "You win competitions, you win Champions League you win the league in terms of individual. I did probably the best season of my career which is good and I was the highest scorer in Europe [but] it's all about votes, it's difficult and to be honest I'm not very worried about that because as I said many times, I never thought I'd win three times to be honest."

Ronaldo, who turned 30 last February, says he still believes he can win more Ballon D'Ors. He told Ross, "Well I'm still young I think... I think I can, I want to play six, seven years more and I think I'm still able to win collective things because if you don't win collective things, you cannot win individual awards."
