A former vegan who was once very devoted to her diet plans now warns everyone about the danger of being obsessed with healthy food. According to her, the strict vegan diet actually made her hair fall out and even stopped her period.
The 25-year-old lady named Jordan Younger is now eating a healthy diet which includes fish, meat and eggs. As what she had said, the former vegan diet that she once followed made her weak and offered her some harmful effects.
Starting in the year 2013, Younger is known for her blog called the 'Blonde Vegan' which includes her personal experiences on following the strict raw-based vegan diet. She impressively built almost 70,000 followers on Instagram because of her devotion and commitment to follow the said diet.
According to Younger, the diet is very cleansing and detoxing at the beginning saying that her former stomach problems had been resolved and an adrenaline rush and energy was flowing throughout her body. But after some time, she discovered that the diet offered her more harm than good.
"The obsession with my diet took up my every waking hour. It was stopping me from leading a normal life full of social activities and other interests," Younger stated.
Later own, it was discovered that Younger had orthorexia. National Eating Disorders Association defined it as person having a "righteous fixation on healthy eating".
Her stomach problem eventually returned and she experienced a 25lbs drop on her weight making her look skeletal at 105lbs. Aside from that, the 5'4''-tall Californian beauty also experienced the feeling of always feeling tired, hair fallout and even stoppage of her period.
Two days after eating fish, her period returned again which made her realized to already stop following the strict-diet. As of now, Younger is still eating healthy foods but with the inclusion of animal products like fish, eggs and meat.
She is currently promoting her new book entitled Breaking Vegan and her blog renamed as 'The Balanced Blonde'. Both feature a wide-range choice of tips and recipes for a balanced diet.
