Could Blizzard be planning to re-release some of its classic games? A new job opening posted by the company indicates that it's on the lookout for a senior software engineer who can help retool iconic games like Starcraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II.

"Compelling stories. Intense multiplayer. Endless replayability. Qualities that made StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II the titans of their day. Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation." Reads the job listing's introduction.

"We're restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done.So if you like wearing many hats, know small teams are the most effective, and look forward to challenges that will create millions of new adventures for our players: we would love to hear from you." It continues.

Some of the job's responsibilities include: making gameplay 'first again' on modern operating systems, creating anti-hacking measures to improve the online experience, and dealing with crashes, bugs and all sorts of other problems.

All three of these games are among the most revered entries in their respective genres.

The original Starcraft is one of the most beloved and influential real-time strategy games of all time, Warcraft III was the birthing point for DotA, While Diablo II is still considered by many to be the gold standard for action-RPGs.

Blizzard has yet to specify how in-depth these reissued games will be. Will they be going all out with updated graphics engines, modern networking features, and the like? Or are they simply going to shift these titles into the existing Battle.net infrastructure?

Whatever the case, its good to know that some classic PC games are getting new life.
