In 2009, a movie drama titled "The Girlfriend Experience" was released in theatres. The move storylined on a woman named Chelsea, a high priced $2,000 per hour call girl in Manhattan. She offers the Gilfriend Experience (GFE). She'll dress up, go to dinner and a movie, listen like an attentive partner to chatter about finances and business and then she'll provide sex. In 2016, a thirteen series television version of the show will star Riley Keough.
The 2009 movie was an experimental project directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred Sasha Grey. A few years later, Steven Soderbergh will executive produce the series in Starz, an American TV and cable network.
The thirteen part series will run for a half hour each and Riley Kough will star as the lead Christine Reade, as reported by Variety.
The series is written and directed by Amy Seimetz and Lodge Kerrigan.
Riley Keough, the actress from Magic Mike and Mad Max - and who is also Elvis Presley's granddaughter - will be playing as a high end escort in the course of the series when a friend of hers encourages her to join in on the GFE business. Her character is not so different from the 2009 main lead though.
In the Starz spin-off, Riley's character is a law student in the University of Chicago and an intern at a law firm. She is introduced to the world of high-end sex for the exchange of money and consequently enlists men for the service. Keough describes her character as "very independent, and kind of controlling, and she likes sex, and she's really smart, and she's cynical, and I think she's kind of funny", as told by Vanity Fair.
The project is a reunion between Keough and Soderbergh. Both used to work together on the movie "Magic Mike".
