Selena Gomez To Receive 'Chart Topper' Award At Billboard's Women In Music Event 2015

After making consecutive streaks on the Billboard music charts at the no. 1 spot, Selena Gomez has earned her well-deserved prize.

The 22-year old 'Cool for the Summer' hitmaker has been chosen to receive the Chart Topper award at Billboard's annual Women in Music event. The big awarding event, which of course will be joined by many big-named artists in the music industry, will take place in New York City on December 11, 2015.

Reports say that the prominent award honors major career achievements on the Billboard's music charts. Last year, Billboard gave the honor to the Australian rapper-songwriter, Iggy Azalea, who also reigned in several Billboard music charts with her record-breaking album and track sales for 2014.

What contributed to her big success in the music charts and consecutively debuting at the no. 1 spot was her latest album 'Revival', which took the lead on the Billboard 200 for the month of October, with 117,000 units sold during its first week.

"In the last few months, Selena has broken onto the scene as an adult and come into her own as an artist with the success of Revival," co-president and CCO of Guggenheim Media's Entertainment Janice Min said in a statement.

She added, "We want to highlight this moment for a woman who has become a role model for many, a feminist, an independent voice whose new album truly showcases her as a mature artist."

'Revival' is Gomez's second no. 1 album to dominate in the U.S, following her 2013's 'Stars Dance'. As for the recent standing of her album and singles sales worldwide, Selena Gomez has already made almost 6.7 million in albums and 22 million in singles.

In addition to her latest album 'Revival', Selena Gomez has also revealed that she will be kicking off her big 'Revival World Tour' beginning May to July next year.
