Angelina Jolie's father wants her to direct him in a film.

However, the American actress and filmmaker is collaborating with her own children, 14-year-old Maddox, for an upcoming film about Cambodia's Khmer Rouge regime.

As the actress who received an Academy Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, was speaking with the Associated Press, Angelina Jolie said that she and Maddox, adopted from Cambodia in 2001, "will be side by side acquiring knowledge about his country" as they gear up for the film.

Angelina Jolie stated, "He is my son, but he is also a son of Cambodia," Jolie also said, "This is the time for our family to perceive the intended meaning of all that means to him and to us. My strong feeling of wanting is to tell this story in the most truthful and exact way as possible, will be my gift that is intended to show gratitude to the strength and respect of all Cambodian people."

The flick that Jolie will be helming is based on a historical account - "First They Killed My Father" by human rights activist Loung Ung, who grew up under the Khmer regime.

Angelina Jolie said that project's intention is not to revisit the intense feeling of fear of the war, but to bring to the screen, the characters that individuals around the world will understand and share the feelings, and also, the goal is to help other people to learn about the country.

And what is special about this intense story is that, it is told from a point of view of a 5-year-old child, and is rooted on a child's emotional encounter of the war.
