'Back To The Future' Day: Here's What The Film Got Right About the Future [PHOTOS + VIDEOS]

One of the most iconic films in the '80s and '90s was "Back To The Future II," which starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. In the movie, the two protagonists - Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown and Marty McFly travel in time to October 21, 2015.

Now that the day has finally arrived, we've compiled a list of things the movie predicted correctly about the future today:

1. Hoverboards

Although we never actually saw it coming, hoverboards already exist today. In "Back To The Future II," hoverboards could work on water.

Even though hoverboards of today can't exactly do that, it was almost a year ago when Tony Hawk rode the first ever hoverboard - which can only work if the surface is made of conductive material like aluminum or copper.

2. 3-D Movies

In the film, 3D movies existed and they were even in holographic form.

In real life, 3D movies have been around for so several years now. They might not be holographic, but we're pretty sure that's not too farfetched.

We already have the technology to make holograms - as evidenced by Dr. Dre's 2012 Coachella set where he had the late Tupac Shakur in hologram form.

3. Food Hydrator

"Back To The Future II" also predicted the existence of a food hydrator - where a dehydrated pizza was resurrected into a full size pizza. We have food hydrators now too - they just don't look as appetizing as the movie predicted.

4. Self-Tying Shoes

Ever since Marty McFly put on those self-tying Nike shoes, everyone in the world has been yearning for one.

We might not have it yet, but Nike claims they're already working on one.

5. Video Chat

The film also predicted the existence of video chat - which they needed TVs for.

Video chat is another thing that's been around for a while now - and ours is even better because it's already at the palm of our hands - who needs TVs for that?

6. Phone-Capable Glasses

In the film, phones seemed to be inexistent. Instead, they had phones built into glasses.

Surely we have those around now too, commonly known as Google Glass - even though we later realized it wasn't really that good of an idea.

7. Cubs Win the World Series

Lastly, "Back To The Future II" also predicted that the Chicago Cubs would win the world series. Although it hasn't happened yet, the baseball team is well on their way - they might just take home the trophy!
