The frontman of American heavy metal band 'Metallica', James Hetfield, has unveiled in a new interview that the band is currently in the studio recording what is supposed to be the band's long-awaited follow-up album - "Death Magnetic."
As the co-founder and lead vocalist of Metallica Hetfield was speaking to EMGtv concerning his inspiration for the EMG Het Set and three signature ESP guitars - Truckster, Snakebite, and Iron Cross, the lyricist of Metallica said, "I tell ya, the band is recording right now, and there's the number one guitar, there's the number two guitar, there's the number three. And here's the third-track guitars that just sound different. And the guitars all sound different."
The Danish drummer and one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Lars Ulrich recently stated in RollingStone.com that Metallica has written close to 20 new tracks for its having been expected for a long time tenth studio album, although Ulrich did not give any possible release date for the new CD.
Ulrich stated, "In our world, there's been a recognizable difference between the creative phase and the recording phase. With this upcoming project, the band is trying to bridge the two a little more organic and not have there be such a great divide between the processes. Metallica wants to see if we can bring some of the creative curiosity, the spontaneous thing that happens when you're playing a song in the studio."
Metallica's drummer also said that the band doesn't want to record an album in a way that feels "labored over and over-thought."
In addition, Robert Trujillo, Metallica's bassist, said that there's always an amount of something left over of new song ideas coming out from the frontman of Metallica. Trujillo said that James Hetfield usually comes up with a lot of stuff. Hetfield is the kind of guy where he plugs in his guitar, turns a volume knob and comes up with the greatest riff that people can imagine. And for that, Metallica has no shortage of riffs and ideas.
