Irish dancer Michael Flatley will be selling his Co Cork dream home. It is expected that the 18th century mansion will be offered €20m to €30m, according to reports.
Castlehyde House was the ancestral home of the first Irish president Douglas Hydefor and Flatley bought it for £3 million in 1999. He spent more than €50 million for the renovation of the house. The house has 14 bedrooms, a private cinema good for 20 person, a spa room, two wine cellars and a three-story library.
The 150 acres area is filled with 350 tress and 10,000 rose bushes.
Flatley said selling the four-story mansion was one of the hardest decision he ever made but he needs to spend more time in New York to oversee his 'Lord of the Dance' show.
"I've had almost 20 years at Castlehyde and it has been a wonderful experience - some of the best times of my life have been spent there. That is what made this such a tough decision. There are so many happy memories," he told the Sunday Independent. "But my work commitments are increasingly keeping me in London and in other parts of the world."
The selling of the house will be handled by the Irish and UK agents. Bidders are expected to be wealthy people from UK, America, Germany, Russia and Middle Eastern buyers.
In 2010, during an interview with the Sunday Independent Flatley said buying the house was one of the best buys he ever had. "We were flying (in a helicopter) down on the way to west Cork, and he flew over this magnificent land; it looked so rich and so beautiful, and I said, 'This must be Tipperary'. I'd always heard about the great land in Tipp, and the pilot said, 'No, this is north Cork, the Blackwater Valley."
Meanwhile, Michael Flatley, who has a net worth of $300 Million, as per Celebrity Net Worth, is currently supervising the 'Lord of the Dance - Dangerous Games,' which opened in Bulgaria last week.
