The science fiction film based on a novel by Ernest Cline - Ready Player One, has the American director and producer Steven Spielberg leaving himself out of the cutting room floor.
Ready Player One is a thriller about a kid on a high-stakes treasure hunt, by going through a virtual reality world made in a society that's been preoccupied with '80s pop culture. And even before Steven Spielberg signed on to helm the film version of the book by Ernest Cline, the director was all over the story. But Steven Spielberg wants one exception.
Steven Spielberg said in a wide-ranging interview, "The Ready Player One movie won't have any of my films in it," the director added, "I'm not putting myself in this movie."
An odyssey through Gen X nostalgia will still be included in the Ready Player One film, but Steven Spielberg plans to cut the book's references to the film Indiana Jones, that was most famously played by Harrison Ford and the other works that Steven Spielberg produced, like the 1985 American comic science fiction film - Back to the Future and the 1985 American adventure comedy film - Goonies.
As Steven Spielberg was shaking his head, he said, "They reference so many '80s movies. I'm going to do the whole pop culture thing. I'm just going to leave myself out of the film," "I can't do that. Too self-referential."
However, director Steven Spielberg was hooked on the story of Ready Player One by the presentation of Ernest Cline of a world where everyone would rather occupy a simulated one rather than the real one.
Director Steven Spielberg said, "I think it's the future," Spielberg also said, "I'm telling this plot for the reason that I really feel what's in Ready Player One is going to be in our lives before we know it."
Steven Spielberg said that he's trying to get the entire cast by the first of the year, and start shooting Ready Player One film in July.
And Steven Spielberg said that Ready Player One is set for release in December 2017.
