The television personality Howard Stern, slammed the former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno for commenting that the American television host and producer - Jimmy Kimmel was losing the late night ratings wars because Jimmy Kimmel has a "mean streak."
On Wednesday on his SiriusXM show, Howard Stern said, "No person is more cruel compared to Jay Leno," adding that, "Jimmy Kimmel is one of the nicest individuals on earth. ... Jay Leno is putting his enormous chin where it doesn't belong."
During a chat with The News Tuesday, the former host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2000 , said that Jimmy Kimmel (a longtime Howard Stern friend) had treated him poorly when they competed in late night. Jay Leno cited two reasons for this - first is that, Jimmy Kimmel had a "mean streak" and second, because the host of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" had been trying to ask a favor from Howard Stern.
However, Howard Stern countered, "That's not the thing," he noted that Jimmy Kimmel had been friendly with him way before Jimmy Kimmel's infamous appearance on Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" in 2010 - that's when Jimmy Kimmel ripped into Jay Leno for tricking the NBC talk show back from Conan O'Brien.
Howard Stern revealed that Jimmy Kimmel had actually been seething about the behavior of Jay Leno for decades.
Stern also claims that Jimmy Kimmel loved the former television host and comedian - David Letterman, and didn't like it when Jay Leno schemed against Letterman to become the host of "The Tonight Show" in 1992.
Howard Stern was not impressed with Jay Leno being the host of a new CNBC car program, "Jay Leno's Garage." Stern surmised, "Jay Leno likes cars because cars can't tell Leno that he sucks."
On Wednesday, Jimmy Kimmel's representative, Lewis Jay said Jimmy was not available to comment.
