'X Factor' winner, Sam Bailey is happy to have been dropped from Simon Cowell's record label, Syco, claiming that she was not happy with the strict terms before and is now happy as she can finally have her career freedom.
The singer, who signed contract with Syco after winning the singing competition said she was not happy with the record label because her bosses were selective on the jobs that they wanted her to do. Apparently, Sharon Osbourne advised her what to do, so she can have the freedom she wants.
Bailey told the Sunday Mirror, "Sharon said, 'The sooner you are out of the record deal the better because you'll get to do what you want to."
She added, "There were lots of work opportunities when I was with Syco but the label wouldn't let me take them. They didn't want me to be seen opening a school or doing something for this charity or that charity or going to a Tesco store to open their meat department."
She then revealed that she got tired of hanging around, waiting for new projects to come and turning down other work if her bosses don't like it for her. Bailey said, she wants to be "busy" doing the things she likes.
Bailey and Simon parted ways earlier this year, she insisted that it was a right decision for her. She said, "It was nice to set myself free from Simon. The next think I knew, I was working loads."
Meanwhile, Sam is currently working on her new album and preparing for her stage show, 'Sam Bailey: Live in the West End' at the Lyric Theatre on October 12.
This is not the first time a music artist leaves Syco and said they were not happy with the management. Last year, Leona Lewis also left Simon's record label after seven years of recording with the company.
Through an open letter, the 'Bleeding Love' hit maker stated her reason for leaving the company, "I was asked to make a record that would not have been true to myself. As an artist in this climate, I was thankful to even get the chance to make another record."
"But I cannot make music that does not speak to my soul and, as scary as it seemed, I could no longer compromise myself, and so I decided to leave."
