Television history of the past 20 years would have been quite different if the cast of "Friends" had consisted of anyone other than Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox, but it seems like there's another critically acclaimed blonde who was almost cast instead, as Jane Krakowski's "Friends" audition comes to light!
It's been 21 years since "Friends" hit television screens all over the country and made the public fall in love with this group of twenty-something year-olds in The Village, but trivia continues to pop out every once in a while, including Jane Krakowski's "Friends" audition.
According to The Huffington Post, the "30 Rock" actress recently spoke of Jane Krakowski's "Friends" audition, when she was on E!'s red carpet coverage of the Emmy Awards, for which she was nominated this year for the fifth time in her career.
"Well, I, like almost every actor auditioned for Friends. I wish I had gotten that one ... I didn't go very far," the 46 year-old star told E! Online, revealing Jane Krakowski's "Friends" past audition to play Rachel Green, the role that turned Aniston into a superstar and fashion icon, then responding to whether she'd even gotten a callback, which Krakowski doesn't remember. As Express reports, even though Jane Krakowski's "Friends" tryout didn't end in her getting cast in the role, it only took a couple more years for Krakowski to become famous in her own right, as she then co-starred with Calista Flockhart, Lucy Liu, Robert Downey Jr. and Portia De Rossi on "Ally McBeal," which later led to her getting roles in the Tina Fey shows "30 Rock" and this year's Netflix sitcom, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."
Of course, it's now impossible to know how Jane Krakowski's "Friends" performance would have been, but we may have missed out on Aniston's amazing career!
