On Sunday, the Irish rock band U2, was forced to cancel their concert in Stockholm, Sweden following a security threat.
U2, the With or Without You hitmaker was set to play at the Globe Arena but shortly before the show began, the organizers were forced to stop the event and evacuate the crowd from the venue.
A report stated that, a gunman walked in the Globe Arena after claiming to be an off-duty police officer. However, official reports currently refer to the incident as only a security breach.
While helicopters were flying in circles outside, the event security cleared the building and carried out a full sweep in order to find the suspect.
On U2's website a statement was posted that says, "As the breach has not been firmly determined quickly and as audience safety is more important than anything else, the police have recommended The Globe and Live Nation that they have no choice but to postpone tonight's show, to a rescheduled date of Tuesday, September 22. The organizers expressed their regret for the inconvenience caused and thank the audience for their comprehension. Their safety is the top priority."
As stated in the Swedish website Expressen, a police spokesman said that, there are no suspects and no one has been seized by legal authority, but, they were called to conduct an investigation regarding a violation of the Arms Act.
On the other hand, the 45 year old Cecilia Uhler, said she had been waiting in the Globe Arena for the concert to start for almost an hour when people started to evacuate. U2 fans then waited for more than two hours outside the arena, before they were informed that the concert had been canceled.
Cecilia Uhler stated, "For my own part I can come back on Tuesday," Uhler also said, "But I feel really bad for all the U2 aficionado who can't make in then."
U2 is currently in the middle of a sold-out world arena tour, where the band is scheduled to play six nights at London's O2 Arena in October and November.
