NBC Is Creating A 'Taken' TV Series

We've all probably seen all the movies from the "Taken" franchise, and although it seems pretty stretched out now, things might soon lighten up.

According to Complex, NBC will be making a TV series about everybody's favorite badass dad Bryan Mills (played by Liam Neeson), whom we must note - has a very particular set of skills.

However, this time around - the retired CIA agent isn't a dad yet. The NBC "Taken" series will be a prequel to all the movies. But what's probably confusing about the prequel is that it's set in present day.

Deadline was the first to break the news that NBC will be making the film franchise into a series. The publication reports:

"I hear in 'Taken' the series, Bryan Mills [...] is a young man with no wife and kids. The series' premise pays an homage to the movies as it references one of the films' most popular quotes, part of Mill's famous speech to one of the thugs suspected in the kidnapping of his daughter, 'What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career; Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.' The series will focus on how Mills acquires his 'very particular set of skills' and becomes the character we all know. The series will bend time as it will be set in modern day, not decades in the past."

Not only that, but Luc Besson - the writer of all three "Taken" movies and creator of the franchise - will serve as an executive producer on the series, so you know it'll definitely satisfy your thriller longings.

The series is a co-production between Luc Besson's studio, EuropaCorp., and Universal TV. Everything is still in the works though - in fact, they're still looking for a "writer/showrunner to spearhead the adaptation."

Other executive producers on the film include EuropaCorp Television U.S. president Matthew Gross, and the France-based EuropaCorp Television co-chairs Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros.

No word yet on whether or not Liam Neeson will make an appearance on the show. In addition, no reports have yet confirmed on who will be playing the role of the much younger Bryan Mills.
