Taraji P. Henson Hopeful To Win Emmy Award For Best Actress In A Drama

'Empire' actress, Taraji P. Henson admitted that she prays to the Lord that either she or 'How to Get Away with Murder' star Viola Davis takes home the Outstanding Actress in a Drama award next week because she thinks it's about time an African-American actress won the prestigious award.

Though she is amazed that she is nominated for the Lead Actress in a Drama for this year's ceremony, she still thinks it's a bittersweet moment.

"Here we are in 2015, and we're still saying things like, 'First African-American', 'First woman this," Henson explained to Entertainment Weekly.

Henson also said that she is very excited to welcome the 'Kill Bill' actress, Vivica A. Fox on the set. As the production team already confirmed that Fox is joining the 'Empire' season 2 as Cookie's sister. Taraji said that it's going to be a mind blowing experience for her.

"I'm very excited about that," Henson said. "I mean, I watched Vivica before I even got into the business. And she's always been one that I've looked up to, like, 'God, I want to be able to do what she does.' So, to be able to work with the person who you've admired for so long, it's just mind-blowing."

Meanwhile, while preparing for the prestigious event, Henson already has an idea what dress she will be wearing to the Emmy Awards. During the Season 2 premiere at Carnegie Hall, she revealed to The New York Post which dress she'll wear to the star studded ceremony.

She proudly said, it's going to be "Alexander Wang," while showing her fashion stripes statement on the event.

Her co-star, Terrence Howard also attended the event with wife, Mira Pak. He reportedly stole the show with an aubergine suit and an unbuttoned lavender shirt, as per New York Post. He completed the look with a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes.
