Why Sam Smith Will Not Be Singing The James Bond Theme

Sam Smith, the English singer and songwriter that made the hit song "Stay with Me," refuses to admit any involvement in the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, the Spectre that stars Daniel Craig.

Sam Smith performed at the Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Co Laois on September 5 and the singer ended up the ongoing speculation that he would be singing the theme for the film. He said that he had heard Ellie Goulding was recording the song.

The four-time Grammy winner Smith talked to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, and the singer said, "That's not me. That's definitely not me. I've still got loads to do. I've got an Australia tour, but I kind of finish in December, which is great. It gives me a chance to be in London, be in my home and go out with my friends." Smith added, "I had the Grammys in February, which was unreal. I've done two American tours, one throat operation on the vocal cords. I bought a house, which is amazing. I lost weight. That's probably a good thing; I was really fat before. Trust me, I was fat."

Sam Smith (that rose to fame in October 2012 when featured on Disclosure's breakthrough single "Latch") said that he's got a hectic schedule working on his second album, and the singer said it clearly that he won't be collaborating with other artists in his album.

"I always play with this idea in my head. I adore Adele records, and if you go back to Etta James records and Nina Samone and Sarah Vaughan, I love how their album is just them. I think that's important." and Smith added, "I like to collaborate. I think it's an amazing thing, but I kind of like to do it outside of the album. I feel like that the album is my voice, I should tell a story. So I don't think so. But I will collaborate."

Daniel Craig's Spectre, is the 24th James Bond franchise, and slated to hit the theaters in the UK and Ireland on October 26 - simultaneously as its world premiere.
