Grey's Anatomy: The Post-Derek Season Will be Happier

On September 24, the 12th season of Grace Anatomy will return on ABC. The new season will begin with the medical drama going back to it's roots. Romance will be in the air, as this new season takes on a lighter note.

The new season picks up after the finale, that was quite loaded with emotions, having had to say goodbye to Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd(Patrick Dempsey), who died rather tragically.

Shonda Rhimes ,the creator of the series, said that this season will be light and take on a happier note because she actually missed 'the banter and fun' of the other seasons." I missed their quickness and lightness," she added.

As it debuts this month, fans are already given hints with what to expect in the drama and look forward to the episodes with much anticipation.

According to actor, Jason George, who played the role of an anesthesiologist married to surgeon, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), the show has "hit reboot, almost. There's a lot of things that make it feel brand new, but it has that lightness and sense of humor that people fell in love with in the first place."

In addition Meredith, the widow of Shepherd, also the "protagonist" will now be living under a single-roof with her half-sister and her sister-in-law. Rhimes assures us that this situation will bring in a lot of fun, as the three women will find out how different each is from the other.

"Right now it's very funny," Ms. Rhimes said. "Those three women are very different and don't have very much in common, which is fantastic.... It's a fascinating dynamic. It's family."

There will also be a jump forward in time. With the final episode pushing through the year in the last season, after Shepherd's death, the new season will now take place 3 months after that.
