'Can't Buy Me Love' Actress Amanda Peterson Died Because Of Accidental Drug Overdose

American actress Amanda Peterson, who's best known for her role as Cindy Mancini in the 1987 comic movie "Can't Buy Me Love", has died in her home on July 5,  Sunday. Recent reports have just been released, claiming that the cause of her death was due to an accidental drug oversdose after she has reportedly consumed a toxic combination of drugs.

Peterson, 43, whose career boosted in Hollywood after appearing as the Arizona cheerleader in the romantic comedy 'Can't Buy Me Love', was reportedly found dead at her home in Greely, Corolado.

Adding to post-morten reports released by the coroner in Colorado, the substances which were found in the body of the deceased actress included anti-anxiety medication benzodiazepine, anti-psychotic drug phenothiazine, pain reliever substance gabapentin, opiates and marijuana.

The coroner also concluded that Peterson was "naive to opiates" and added that her death was probably because of the "morphine effect", causing the failure and malfunctioning of her body's respiratory organs.

The twice-married actress, who was with great effort to look another acting work after her breakthrough role in the 'Can't Buy Me Love' movie, was reportedly doing self-medications to fight pain.

Prior to her death, she told one of her close friends that she acquired her morphine-based medication from her friends. Amanda's father said that her daughter was fighting health issues which included pneumonia, sinusitis and sleep apnea.

Amanda Peterson was only 16 when she played one of the movie's main characters 'Cindy Mancini', who is a high school student who agrees to fake a relationship with a school 'nerd' for $1000.

The actress was only 23 when she retired from the movie industry and her last onscreen appearance was in the movie 'Windrunner' in 1994.

Within her six years of acting, she had also made brief appearances in the 80's movies, 'The Lawless Land', 'Listen to Me', 'Explorers' and she also appeared in television shows 'A Year in the Life' and 'Doogie Howser'.
