The organizers of the annual festival of the American Film Institute, declared on Thursday, that they chose Angelina Jolie Pitt's By the Sea as the opening-night movie for the event in November.
By the Sea is a Drama-Romance that is directed by Angelina Jolie. The film is under the Plan B Entertainment production company, that stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The By the Sea by Angelina Jolie will have its initial release on November 13, 2015.
The film By the Sea is set in a 1970s France, where an American writer and his wife visited a place in the tranquil and picturesque seaside resort,at a time when their marriage was in crisis.
AFI's president and chief executive officer, Bob Gazzale, stated, "Time and again, Angelina Jolie Pitt has proven herself an artist of the highest caliber," "It is an honor for AFI to celebrate her latest story with its world premiere -- and in doing so -- to shine a proper light upon her boundless creative energies as actor, director, writer and producer."
Angelina Jolie Pitt said that as the American Film Institute has always held up the boldness and experimentation that is brought by the controversial cinema, she and the crew of By The Sea are honored that their film was chosen for the opening-night movie of the AFI Fest.
Jacqueline Lyanga, director of the AFI festival, stated, "We are launching this year's AFI Fest with a film that is fueled by the influence of both American and foreign cinema. Angelina Jolie Pitt's intelligent artistry in By the Sea proves that she is one of today's most creative and expressive filmmakers. It is a perfect way to kick off what will be eight days of incredible films from Hollywood and across the globe."
The 29th edition of the American Film Institute festival will be in Hollywood from November 5 to 12. And the screenings and galas will be held at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, the Dolby Theatre, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
