Alison Sweeney is leaving NBC’s 'The Biggest Loser.' The 38-year-old actress will not be present for the hit weight loss reality competition’s 17th season, which begins shooting this September.
"After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of The Biggest Loser next season," said producers for the show.
The news was announced on August 25 by NBC and confirmed by the actress’ publicist. However, Alison has yet to comment on announcement. The 17th season of The Biggest Loser begins filming next month and as of right now, it’s uncertain who will fill Alison Sweeney's role.
Sweeney first began hosting The Biggest Loser in 2007, taking over for Caroline Rhea. In 2014, she made the decision to leave Days of Our Lives in order to focus more on Biggest Loser and other projects, as well as spend more time with her family, but announced earlier this year that she would return to the soap for part of the 50th anniversary celebration.
Although she is dropping the 'The Biggest Loser' from her schedule, she won’t be away from the screen for long. Her next project, 'Love on the Air,' premieres September 26 on Hallmark Channel. It’s the first project Sweeney sold to the network. In addition to starring in it, Alison Sweeney also serves as an executive producer.
She then has her second movie from the 'Murder She Baked' franchise premiering November 15 on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries and another slated for early next year. Off camera, Sweeney’s third novel, Opportunity Knocks, is being released in Spring 2016.
NBC is expected to announce a new host in early September.
Alison Sweeney is an American actress, and reality show host who has a net worth of $9 million and a $45 thousand per episode salary according to Celebrity Net Worth.
