H&M has been one of the most popular brands that are taking over the fashion retail industry world-wide.As per the Telegraph, The fashion company then made a buzz after launching a "global garment collection initiative". It is a step they're taking for their new clothing collection, using recycled fabrics. Customers who bought in unwanted clothing [any brand is accepted] to any H&M store is being rewarded with a 5 pound voucher. Over 14,000 tons of clothing has been collected globally so far.
The movement led to H&M's first denim collection which was made made of recycled cotton from the textile that they were able to gather.
H&M's CEO Karl- Johan Persson then stated:
"Creating a closed loop for textiles, in which unwanted clothes can be recycled into new ones, will not only minimize textile waste, but also significantly reduce the need for virgin resources as well as other impacts fashion has on our planet,"
In regards to this cause, H&M is keeping their hopes up in increasing the amount of garments using at least 20 per cent of recycled cotton by 300 per cent in the future.
As per their website, H&M then described their intention in terms of coming up with the recycled clothing collection.
"H&M wants to create a closed loop for its textiles, in which the fabrics from unwanted clothes can be recycled into new ones. The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry, by limiting waste that goes to landfill and saving on natural resources used in the production of fabric." They then added: We'll invest any money we make from this service into social projects, as well as research and innovation projects on how old textiles can be turned into new fibres. Which means in the future we'll be able to get rid of clothes waste altogether.
Their new collection 'Close the Loop' will be available in stores world-wide and on their website starting September 7, 2015
