Ellen DeGeneres Reveals More 'Finding Dory' Details

Comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres has been working on the film 'Finding Dory' for the past three years, and now, she can finally talk about the upcoming movie.

During the Disney's D23 event held in Anaheim, the much awaited sequel to the 2003 Pixar sensation 'Finding Nemo,' was presented by Ellen DeGeneres herself. 'Finding Dory' is slated to hit theaters on June 17, 2016.

The talk show host revealed the plot of the new animated adventure, saying, "Dory is searching for her parents - she realizes she has parents - and comes across some characters who are somewhat helpful."

Clownfish Nemo and his dad Marlin, voiced by Albert Brooks, will be back in the sequel. Besides the beloved characters, fans will be hearing the voices of Ty Burrell, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, and Idris Elba in the movie.

Diane Keaton will be playing Dory's mother, while Eugene Levy, who is famously known for the 'American Pie' franchise, will star as Dory's dad.

'Finding Dory' will also feature a cranky "septapus" octopus named Hank, who will be voiced by Ed O'Neil, and Destiny, a kind-hearted whale shark, to be voiced by Kaitlin Olson.

Ellen DeGeneres made it clear at D23 that she doesn't like the idea of keeping fish and other sea creatures in an aquarium, claiming that, "I think that fish should be in the ocean."

"It's what this whole sequel is about: It's about rehabilitation and putting them back in the ocean... And we have to protect our oceans. Hopefully that discussion starts with this film, because we really need to protect that environment."

Director Andrew Stanton, who also helmed 'Finding Nemo' said, "I wanted to know that if this charming forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be okay, that she would find her way home. And at the end of Finding Nemo, I wasn't confident about that. So that's when I knew I had another story."
