Writer of ‘Edge Of Tomorrow' Says Sequel Is A Real Possibility

The American screenwriter, director and producer and a regular collaborator of director Bryan Singer,Christopher McQuarrie, has a lot to offer, with the release of Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, which McQuarrie directed and topped the box office. Christopher McQuarrie alsonsaid that there's a possibility of another McQuarrie and Cruise tandem for the sequel of the movie Edge of Tomorrow

Reportedly, when Tom Cruise first approached director McQuarrie with a potential idea for an Edge of Tomorrow sequel, McQuarrie said the he wasn't interested. However, while Christopher McQuarrie was directing Rogue Nation, the director learned something.

Christopher McQuarrie stated, "What I've learned, having made Mission, is what I would write into the movie to make it an easier to sell. Edge of Tomorrow was incredibly difficult to market. From the look of the film to the title of the film ... The movie didn't have the moments that a trailer needs to tell you, 'This is the experience you're going to have."

In Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation project, Christopher McQuarrie went to marketing department right away and he said to tell him what they need. McQuarrie wanted them to teach him marketing, so the director/writer can give them the material that they need.

Writer Christopher McQuarrie loved last year's Edge of Tomorrow, and the writer thinks that the film is one of the most underrated sci-fi films in recent years, and McQuarrie is thrilled by even the tiniest prospect of a sequel.

Christopher McQuarrie stated, "It all comes down to Warner Bros. and Doug Liman and Emily Blunt saying yes," "The idea is there. At worst, it's the kernel of an idea - which is, on one hand, great, but on the other hand, I know what a nightmare that is. I know that I'll be in the void trying to figure that out." Christopher McQuarrie also said, "And even then when it came out in the press after Tom had mentioned it, right away, there were people on social media saying," "Don't do it, it should never have a sequel, etc., etc." "And I'm just laughing because I'm like," "You guys don't even know what we are talking about! You have no idea!'"
