Epson To Release New Models Of Printers With 'Supertanks'

Messy refills and costly replacement of ink cartridges will no longer be a problem with Epson's newest models of printers. The new innovation can store more ink in its so-called Supertanks, an eco-friendly themed structure that is built in the printer itself, which means it is irremovable.

The aforementioned tanks do not need reliever cartridges, just refills from retailed ink bottles which can be bought for about $13. Users will no longer have to spend $25 for inkjet cartridges, which are almost twice the price of the refills. The bottles can be spared safely for later use.

Black, cyan, magenta and yellow ink bottles complete the set that won't make users worry about printer inks for 2 years and can be refilled after printing about 8,500 pages. The claimed number of pages may vary depending on the user's printing occurrences and color quality. Now, users will only have to spend $26 each year if they print a hundred and fifty pages a month.

The printer comes in five models: Expression ET-2500 and ET-2550, WorkForce ET-4500, ET-4550 and Pro WF-4640. The first three of the said units are capable of printing up to 4,000 black pages at the rate of 9.2 ISO pages per minute (ppm) and 6,500 colored ones at 4.5 ISO ppm.

Workforce ET-4550 can print 11,000 black at 13 ISO ppm and 8,500 colored pages at 7.3 ISO ppm. And lastly, the Workforce Pro WF-4640, which is suitable for enterprise level, can do 20,000 black prints and 20,000 colored pages, both at 20 ISO ppm.

The tech company claims that 20 sets of cartridges with different colors can be beaten by the new Supertanks which means a great edge for Epson.

The minimal-end model costs $380 while the high-end and heavy-duty one can reach up to $1,200. These printers will be available in the market next month.
