Apple Does Not Plan To Distribute iPhones Directly To Consumers

Apple has denied the spreading reports stating that it is planning to sell its communications devices directly to customers. The most profitable mobile phone developer does not intend to get involved in the direct distribution of its products and bypass telecom operators which are now doing the said task.

An Apple spokeswoman states that, "We have not discussed nor do we have any plans to launch an MVNO."

Since the tech company released the first iPhone in 2007, Apple left the redistribution to carriers like Deutsche Telekom AG, AT&T Inc and China Mobile Ltd. These partners made the success of the company in the mobile phone business possible.

Later, the tech giant decided to work with more operators rather than focusing on exclusive deals with single operators. The move was intended to ensure maximum coverage to its customers all over the world. The company believes that working with as many operators as possible will allow them to reach the world.

Apple is recently reported as the highest earning smartphone company for three straight years. The multinational company has overcome seven leading smartphone developers in the world in terms of sales. The company took 92% of the total revenues generated by the eight leading smartphone makers.

Analysts reveal that Apple obtain majority of its revenue from iPhone. As of June 2015, the company sold 48 million iPhones gaining a revenue of $31.4 billion which is 63% of its total sales.

The company also mentioned about its plan to produce more iPhones by the end of the year. Suppliers are instructed to manufacture 90 million iPhone units before the year ends.

Earlier, Business Insider reported about the testing of MVNO service in the United States. But with the sales and current standing of the company, it seems like it does not need to be a carrier of its own product.
