Brisbane City Council conducted an investigation after they received a complaint from a customer, who purchased food from the noodle market, which the complainant later discovered that the food is packed with cockroaches.
An ABC staff bought pork dumplings last night at the one of the stalls from the Night Noodle Markets at South Bank, but the staff was startled after finding out that there were cockroaches in the food that was serve.
Food safety authorities are investigating the incident, councilor Krista Adams said on ABC.
"We definitely have officers out there today and investigating the vendor that served the pork buns, so we take it very seriously when we get these reports."
She added that they will investigate the "actual situation," since they don't want to shut down food businesses right away without conducting a "thorough investigation," but she assured they will shut down any establishment if they find it necessary.
"I'm unaware yet whether council has received the information that it requires, but we can go on site and go and have a talk to the organisers and see what the situation is and see what the actual standards are," Adams added.
As for the Noodle Market, the spokesperson claims that for the years of the market existence this the first time they encounter such issue.
"In all our years of running great food markets around the country, this is the first time one of our stallholders has had an issue like this," the spokesperson for the noodle market claimed.
"We work with the best restaurants, serving great food in a fun environment - no-one wants unannounced bugs in their food and it's not something we want to happen at our markets."
The spokesperson added that they will we working with the officers to resolve the concern.
"We and the appropriate authorities will be talking to the stall holder concerned."
