Facebook Will Allow Users To Have More Control Over Their News Feed

Facebook introduced the "See First" feature, where preferences to the News Feed will be made available, and help its users have better control on what appears on the page. The new tool is a useful addition, that it can help the 1.4 billion Facebook users prioritize updates from the select friends up to the Pages buttons.

As Adam Mosseri, the Facebook product director, said, users can easily understand the new Facebook controls added in the interface. With the new Facebook feature, users also can de-prioritize content from friends and Pages that they'd rather not see - using the unfollow and refollow tools, there will be an option to "see less" and put someone "on pause" for a brief period of time.

Mark Zuckerberg - the Facebook CEO announced in a post on Facebook, "We just launched new tools to give you more control over what you see in your News Feed. Now you'll be able to easily choose the friends and pages you want to see at the top of your News Feed, and soon you can discover new pages to connect to. Our goal is to help you connect with the people and things you care about the most, and this is another step in that direction."

The Facebook product director also said that, the company has allowed people to hide, filter, block and prioritize various friends and Pages for years. These new controls are more powerful, simple, and noticeable. Mosseri added that the new controls are also a new way to discover new Pages to follow.

Jacob Frantz, the Facebook Product Manager, stated, "To help prioritize stories, and make sure you don't miss posts from particular friends and Pages, you can now select which friends and Pages you would like to see at the top of your News Feed. Within News Feed Preferences, tap on a friend's profile picture to see their posts first. You will then see any new stories they've shared since your last visit to Facebook at the top of the News Feed, with a star in the top right of their post so you know why they're at the top. You can scroll down to see the rest of your News Feed normally."
