Deen Castronovo, drummer of the American rock-band 'Journey', was arrested on Tuesday, June 30, after being charged with rape, assault and unlawful use of a dangerous weapon, according to reports.
The 50-year old rock musician was initially arrested on June 14 after engaging himself in a domestic dispute at his home in Oregon.
Following his arrest, prosecutors reported to Marion County Judge on Tuesday that Castronovo was accused of assault and menacing after he contacted a woman.
He was then released on bail and was ordered by the court to stay away from the victim. However, prosecutors reported that the suspect had continued to text the victim 122 times, called her 35 times and even threatened her if ever he gets out of jail.
Because he repeatedly violated the court order by still texting and calling the victim, Marion County Judge Audrey Broyles later rejected the bail.
Deen Castronovo was brought into court and will remain in the Oregon jail to face charges such as assault, menacing and second-degree sexual abuse.
"We arrested him a couple weeks ago after a domestic violence investigation," Lieutenant Dave Okada of the Salem Police Department said. "He had since been released. He was arrested for violation of that release agreement, and additional charges followed after that."
Jennifer Gardiner, Marion County Deputy District Attorney, said that the suspect agreed to the text accusations and he was even the one to tell the woman to get a restraining order. "Quite frankly, is unstable," Gardiner said.
She added, "In some of those messages he was screaming at her that he hated her, that she was ruining his life."
Castronovo has not issued a petition to the charges and arrived in the court sporting a padded vest. The suspect looked downward as the prosecutors detailed all the allegations thrown against him.
Jeffrey Jones, Castronovo's attorney, has asked the court to allow a minimum bail and told Broyles to "look at the past history of whom Mr. Castronovo has been for 50 years."
During the hearing, Attorney Jones also admitted that Castronovo was high in meth when he was under arrest two weeks ago.
His band Journey later removed him from the row of their currently scheduled tours and Omar Hakim has been assigned to play drums for the upcoming U.S concerts in July.
The band made the announcement through their official Facebook page on June 18, Thursday.
The Salem Police has requested a representative for Castronovo, however, not one spokesperson could be reached for a statement.
Back in 2012, Castronovo was also arrested after he allegedly knocked down his girlfriend due to cheating issues.
