Rocksteady Studios and WB Games' 'Batman: Arkham Knight' the final instalment in their much loved trilogy of Batman games has been slammed by members of the PC gaming community for its poor performance at launch.
Game journalists who reviewed Arkham Knight on PC claim that the highly anticipated title suffers from a myriad number of technical issues even on systems that more than exceed the developer's suggested specifications.
Gaming Blog Kotaku notes:
- The batmobile sequences (of which there are many) cause the frame rate to tank.
- The frame rate is locked to 30 frames-per-second, unless you modify an INI file.
- There's constant stuttering, which makes playing the game incredibly difficult.
- When attempting to verity the game cache, sometimes it ends up deleting the game.
While Chris Thursten of PC Gamer Magazine called the game out on its poor textures and inconsistent performance:
"Sometimes, I didn't encounter any issues at all-and, anecdotally, issues seem to get less frequent after the game had been running for longer. At other times, I'd run into enemies with low level-of-detail clothes on, signs with no text, and environmental objects that were clearly supposed to load more detailed textures as I got closer to them."
WB Games has acknowledged the problems present in the PC version of their game. A short message on their official message board reads:
Hi all
We're aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously. We are working closely with our external PC development partner to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as possible.
We'll update this thread when we've got more info to share.
Their quick response has not stopped gamers from venting their frustration. Arkham Knight has been savaged with negative reviews on online storefront Steam. With many frustrated customers making use of the platform's new refund feature to get their money back.
