Halloween Returns, the 11th film in the Michael Myers franchise, will start the production on July according to Dimension Films and Trancas International Films. It will be directed by Marcus Dunstan, and Patrick Melton, as scriptwriter. The talented pair also wrote the scripts for the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh Saw movies.
The film will feature a group of teens' personal vendetta against Michael Myers. The group of teens try to sneak in to watch the death row execution of Myers. But when things went wrong and the killer Myers escapes, the teens run for their lives. And a case of Michael Myers chasing after his victims is once again set anew.
The movie franchise was originated in 1978 by John Carpenter. Carpenter directed the film with co-writer Debra Hill and created the Michael Myers villain/character where the film debut starred Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The Halloween Returns movie will be produced by Malek Akkad. Akkad got Matthew Stein as the executive producer.
The co-chair of The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films, Bob Weinstein said, "Michael Myers has taken a long break from the big screen and we know fans are eager to see him return," Bob Weinstein added: "We are excited to be back in business with Trancas and look forward to bringing one of the scariest installments of this classic franchise to audiences worldwide."
Rob Zombie directed the recent film of the franchise, which was 2007's Halloween and 2009's Halloween II.
Director Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are represented by Paradigm, Underground's Trevor Engelson and attorney Dave Feldman.
As Michael Myers is slashing his way to the silver screen again, the EVP of Production and Creative Affairs, Matthew Signer, SVP of Production and Development and Keith Levine will be supervising the Dimension Films production.
The Halloween Returns production is moving forward to a July shoot scheduled, casting for roles in the installment is on going.
