Director Joe Dante of the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch, remembers the respected and admired career of Christopher Lee - who passed away Sunday at the age of 93.
Christopher Lee died while being hospitalized for respiratory problems and heart failure, at 8.30 am on Sunday morning at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Words were delayed to come out regarding the news, as they intended the family members be informed first.
Lee most often was overlooked as an actor but director Dante stated that Lee showed his exceptional acting skills in his role in The Wicker Man, his stint in a James Bond movie until finally being the formidable white wizard villain in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Director Joe Dante stated: "I got to know Christopher very well after Gremlins, and we actually had a lot of projects that we had mounted and tried to get made," director Dante also said: "One of them that I think really would have been good was a Sweeney Todd with him and Vanessa Redgrave."
Director Dante said, when he was eleven years old, he remembered that he saw the movie of Christopher Lee,The Curse of Frankenstein in 1957.Director Joe Dante spoke that even Lee acknowledged himself to be known for his horror movie, Christopher Lee's attitude was that he wanted to explore more. "He had a great career, he was 93 years old, and by the end of his career he was singing heavy metal. I mean, you gotta give it to the guy. But I think he probably had a career that didn't go as mainstream as he would've liked." the director accounts.
