After announcing her second pregnancy and stepping out on the streets of New York City, Kim Kardashian West was donning an extravagant see-through Proenza Schouler gown at the 2015 CFDA Awards.
Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough teamed up with Lazaro Hernandez to create the "custom eyeleted extravaganza," as described by McCollough.
Jack explained that Kim Kardashian West was not the typical girl dressed by the fashion brand. "We've never dressed someone like that, you know. Grimes is definitely more the kind of girls we normally dress," McCollough said.
But he didn't pass up the opportunity, saying, "So it's kind of cool to open the horizon." Kim's stylist, Jenke Ahmed Tailly, is a friend of the designing duo and had approached McCollough and Hernandez to create the gown for Kardashian West.
"They kind of approached us, actually. He really wanted us to do something for her, and she was really into it," Jack explained.
During the time, Kardashian West had yet to announce the news of her second pregnancy. Because the bump is still barely visible, Kim had told the designers of the news during the first gown fitting.
Kim Kardashian West presented the Eugenia Shepphard Award to Instagram during the 2015 CFDA Awards. Although Kim already has a whopping 34 million fans, McCollough dished that he's a new addition to her follower base. "I just started following Kim tonight, actually," he admitted.
The sheer gown showed no signs of a baby bump, with the gown tightly fitting around her hourglass waist. The mesh also highlighted the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star's black high-waisted underwear.
The gown was also adorned with fringe just above the shoulders, grommet detailing and a side slit.
But as glam as she came out on Monday night, some accidents still could not be avoided. Kim's dress caught on fire during the dinner. Luckily, Pharrell Williams and his wife Helen Lasichanh were there to put it out.
Kim Kardashian even posted a shout out to the couple on her Instagram page.
