Game of Thrones: Kit Harington Talks About New Episode 'HardHome' Battle Scenes [SPOILERS]

The latest episode of Game of Thrones called 'Hardhome' featured one of the biggest and most unexpected battle sequences in the series' history. And according to Kit Harington, it was the most difficult scene to shoot.

The actor who plays Jon Snow recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the episode. "It was three to four weeks of shooting for a sequence that should add up to [more than] 20 minutes," Harington admitted. "We shot less than a minute a day! It's so CGI-heavy it's unlike anything I've ever done on Thrones. I've always been proud of the way Thrones doesn't go overboard with special effects, but in this sequence they had to. I think it's going to be spectacular."

The 'Silent Hill' star confirmed that the scene was laborious because it had to be shot several times. A scene would be shot with a stunt man in a green screen suit, then with a different stuntperson with prosthetics. The last take would be of the actor alone without an opponent.

Harington compared the sequence with the Battle of Castle Black in the last season. "This was twice as hard as that," he said. "It was exhausting."

The episode 'Hardhome' is named for the fishing village that lies beyond the Wall. It is said that several survivors of the Battle of Castle Black have fled to the Free Folk village.

[Warning: spoilers ahead]

'Hardhome' is destined to be one of the most hard-hitting episodes of the show. In addition to Jon Snow and Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) encountering giants and White Walkers, it will also mark the first time that Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) will meet Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Meanwhile in King's Landing, Cersei (Lena Headey) continues to defy the High Sparrow. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) is slowly finding her place in the House of Black and White.

'Game of Thrones' airs on HBO on Sundays at 9PM ET.
