CDC reported that there are nearly 1600 people in the United States who are affected with Listeria every year. It is the third leading cause of death from food poisoning where people get sick by eating contaminated foods.
Listeriosis can cause headache, stiff neck, fever, muscle aches, loss of balance, confusion, and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.
As Beefsteak patties recall is being done, the FSIS advises all consumers to reheat all products that are being bought ready-to-eat to kill any possible contamination that can lead to sickness and even death.
