North Korea Jong-un News: Jong-il’s Son Bans Citizens From Sharing His Name, For There Can Only Be One

The extreme North Korea Jong-un news continue to flow to this side of the world, as the decrees made by the Asian country's leader become exceedingly ridiculous: in the latest, he has ordered that nobody else in the country can share the name "Jong-un."

North Korea is probably the most ruthless police state in the world, with a personality cult that has already reached three generations of the country's supreme leaders family: first, it was grandfather Kim Il-sung, then father Kim Jong-il and now Kim Jong-un. Now, the latest North Korea Jong-un news sees the youngest of the clan joining in granddad's footsteps.

The New York Times reports that the latest North Korea Jong-un news is that the Supreme Leader of the country, who has been in power since his father died in December 2011, has now banned citizens around the country from having the same name as him.

Ridiculous as the North Korea Jong-un news may sound, this is not the first time the reigning family takes up this measure. It's turned into a family tradition, according to The Mirror: his grandfather and his father before him also released similar decrees while they took power in Pyongyang.

The new decree states that the ban applies not only those who are born from now on can't be named Jong-un, but also retroactively to those who already have that name. According to The Washington Post, those citizens who have already named their children Jong-un (mostly in homage of the Supreme Leader) are instructed to "voluntarily" change their names.

The consequences of not doing so are not specified in the document, but due to the long history of power abuse in the country, citizens are unlikely to refuse the order.

The North Korea Jong-un news regarding naming is only the latest stint the Asian leader has pulled: back in 2012, the man in charge of the Pyongyang government had his own uncle executed under accounts of treason.
