Oprah Winfrey bomb plot was exposed five years after a derailed 2009 truck bomb attempt by the terrorists to blow both the talk show superstar's four-building studios, Harpo Studios and the infamous Sear Towers.
Apparently, Oprah Winfrey was targeted due to her fame and power, while Sear or Willis Tower was chosen due to its being one of the tallest building in the world.
According to Judicial Watch, the failed Oprah Winfrey bomb plot was planned by militant Islamist who condemns the American military involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Two conspirators to the attempted bomb plot were held by the authorities in state prisons just recently for different cases filed against them, but the two were not indicted for the alleged bomb plot, International Business Times reports.
The information about the bomb plot was disclosed by unidentified law enforcement sources to Judicial Watch, who request anonymity for the sensitivity of the case.
The sources allegedly feared for reprisal from the federal agents for mishandling the Oprah Winfrey bomb plot case and from the terrorists who can revenge on them anytime for giving the information.
The failed bomb plot was planned by using U- Haul-style trailer, and a delivery-style step van that was paid for at auction in El Paso, Texas.
The derailed Oprah Winfrey bomb plot was allegedly planned with bombs constructed with plastic explosive C-4 and Tannerite, designed for explosion by means of a high velocity firearms cartridge that were believed to be acquired from a US Army base in El Paso and Mexico.
However, the planned bomb plot didn't happen when the federal and Illinois authorities captured the alleged truck-bomb plotters before they arrived at Chicago.
Judicial Watch has named the conspirators for the Oprah Winfrey bomb plot as Emad Karakrah, who is presently sentenced at Cook County, Illinois Jail and Hector Pedroza Huerta who is detained at El Paso County Jail.
The two are residents of El Paso, Texas and are captured for various cases around the country. Aside from the two terrorists, Judicial Watch has also exposed other conspirators for the Oprah Winfrey bomb plot including an alleged Omar, Jabber Elbaneh and Adnan Gulshair el Shukrijumah.
The Harpo Studios owned by Talkshow superstar and producer Oprah Winfrey is located in Chicago's West Loop. It is where Oprah was recording her show "The Oprah Winfrey Show" before it ended in 2011.
The four-building Harpo Studios was sold to Sterling Bay for $32 million in March. Until to this date, Oprah hasn't commended regarding the derailed Oprah Winfrey bomb plot.
