Hillary Clinton's Spicy Health Secret

Running a country is no easy feat. Getting there is even brutal. In times when weather and stress is your adversary and when one opponent criticize your bathroom break, what's a presidential hopeful to do? Hillary Clinton turns to jalapeno peppers.

While out on the campaign trail, Hillary is reported to chow down on raw jalapeno peppers "like potato chips" according to a campaign personnel. It seems she has an affinity for hot stuff, made obvious by her wide collection of more than 100 hot sauces stuffed in the White House when she was First Lady and was seen getting serious with Indian food after an 11-hour hearing about Benghazi.

Health benefits of peppers has been in the books for years which include Vitamin A and C, Beta-Carotene, Lutein, Potassium and Fiber and being low in calories. Capsaicin, the active ingredient in peppers could also be found in over-the-counter pain creams suggesting peppers could also be an effective pain reliever. That could be the reason why Hillary believes peppers make her feel better. Some research also attributed spicy foods to lower risk of dying from conditions like respiratory and heart diseases and even cancer.

According to JJ Virgin, CNS, CHFS, author of Sugar Impact Diet and The Virgin Diet, jalapeno peppers could give Hillary the metabolic boost she needs while helping curb sugar cravings. "Plus the spicy heat can trigger an endorphin rush which could help Hillary balance some of that campaign stress" she told Yahoo Health.

Hillary also makes time for yoga and walks but is not currently on a strict diet plan like her husband, Bill who is mostly vegan and her daughter who is on a gluten-free diet. She lives by a general rule that "if it looks bad for you, it's probably bad for you." Something that makes one put down that calorie-laden cupcake by the holiday table.
