'Halo 5: Guardians' Finally On Board! Master Chief No Longer Main Character

As the 'Halo 5: Guardians' is finally on board, some fans are getting worried as their favorite Master Chief appeared to be only a side character in the new video game.

It can be remembered that when 343 Industries was promoting the video game through trailers and advertisements, a new character emerged in the name of Spartan Locke. Trailers and ads displayed that Locke got more focus than Master Chief in the gameplay.

Now that shooting video game was released, many have concluded that Spartan Locke is now the main hero of the storyline making Master Chief as a side character.

In the former Halo franchise, Master Chief is considered as the main character of the game even though he was not always alone. In the Halo 5, Spartan Locke is the major player. In terms of characteristics and abilities, he is just the same with Master Chief making it feel like the player is actually playing the actual Master Chief.

However, as what Fox News stated, the problem of the sudden change is that players are now missing their connection to the game. Even though Locke and Master Chief are quite the same, playing the former for most of the time provides a lost connection for player who was linked to Master Chief for four games and for more than 10 years. It seems like gaming enthusiasts are not yet ready to let their favorite character go.

However, Sam Byford of The Verge sees the change as a fresh perspective to the series.

"And you only play as Master Chief for a small portion of the game, which at least lends a fresh perspective to the series," said Byford.

On the other hand, the videogame is considered excellent in terms of gameplay and graphics. As what most of the reviewers said, it is still one of the best video game in the market today. For some fans and gaming enthusiasts, the positives still outweigh the negatives.
