Pacific Rim 2: Guillermo Del Toro Wants Game of Thrones Actress Maisie Williams

Last month, the 2013 American science fiction monster film directed by Guillermo del Toro - Pacific Rim 2, have some new developments in the status, however, probably not the kind of process of developing that fans were hoping for. As the Pacific Rim sequel of the Mexican film director and producer - Guillermo del Toro has been pushed back to an unspecified period of time from its planned 2017 release date.

The American film studio Universal Studios and the American film production company - Legendary Pictures, pointed out that the reason for the delay is to ensure that Pacific Rim 2 is "the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves."

As the production's Public Relations (PR) stated, it doesn't sound conveying a sense of tragedy, but the middling performance of the Pacific Rim movie at the box office means that a sequel has never been a sure thing.

The first sequel more than broke even in theaters, with even home video and merchandise sales, helping the first Pacific Rim become a financial success. It has been said that it is not a high priority for Legendary Pictures as following up a high-scoring like the science fiction monster film Godzilla and director Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World.

Nonetheless, director Guillermo del Toro has stayed eager about the Pacific Rim sequel, and he is even starting to entertain some new casting fantasies.

Guillermo del Toro posted on Twitter that he has had lunch with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, and del Toro was deeply affected by their meeting that promised that, "if Pacific Rim 2 will push through, Maisie Williams is getting a Jaeger."

Jaegers are the very large sized mechs that humanity designed to fight against the inter-dimensional invaders, where every Jaeger has two pilots who operate the machine in perfect synchronicity using a mind-meld way of carrying out a particular task called 'Drifting.'
