The American broadcast television network - ABC's 'Nightline,' expressed their regret for confusing the Indian film actress and the Miss World pageant of 2000 winner - Priyanka Chopra, with other Indian actress.
The ABC's new drama "Quantico" star - Priyanka Chopra, was aired in a feature by the news magazine earlier this week, a video shot supposedly to show where Priyanka Chopra in the Miss World pageant was included. But, the video shown was of the 1999 Miss World winner Yukta Mookhey, while Priyanka Chopra won the crown in 2000.
ABC's mistake was right away noticed by online viewers.
High Heel Confidential, a fashion blog, pointed out on Twitter, "Uh oh, @Nightline! That's Yukta Mokhey when she was crowned Miss World. Not @priyankachopra!" and another Twitter user posted, "Whoops, ABC promoted their new show with an image of the wrong Indian woman."
The television network responded with a regretful acknowledgement of their blunder and posted a rectified version of the "Nightline" story online. Nightline tweeted after the error was brought to the network's attention, "Our heartfelt apologies @priyankachopra."
Priyanka Chopra posted in her retweet of the apology, "Thank you for the correction @Nightline."
In an ironic manner, the portion of the show talked about Priyanka Chopra's big break into Hollywood and how Priyanka Chopra has had to overcome and take control of the preconceived opinion and racial stereotypes of the media.
Priyanka Chopra became the voice for NFL's Thursday night football in 2013 at the same time when she released her single "In My City," back then she unexpectedly experienced a lot of racist remarks.
Priyanka Chopra stated in the Nightline segment, "I received a large number of these terrorist comments that called me an 'Arab terrorist,'" "I felt resentful on two accounts: one, why is every Arab a terrorist? And second of all, how come I am an Arab? I'm Indian."
