Kids No Longer Prefer PC For Playing Videogames, Find Out What's the Latest Trend!

According to a new report, the PC is no longer the top gaming platform for kids nowadays. NPD of the United States unveiled that most of the games now played by children are in mobile devices.

In a survey called "Kids and Gaming 2015", NPD studied the top platforms children played the most. The kids who were surveyed were at the age bracket of 2-17 years old, and as the results show, PC is not their first choice anymore.

The report shows that 63 percent of the children are now playing games with the use of mobile gadgets. On the other hand, those kids aging 2-17, who played games in their personal computers are only in a 45 percent rate. It went down to 22 percent based on the report conducted last 2013. NPD group stated that the drop is observed in the whole age group, but are much emphasized on the 2-5 age bracket.

In a statement, Liam Callahan stated his opinion about the result of the given report.

"The largest and most surprising shift in the 2015 gaming ecosystem was kids' move away from the computer. In the past, the computer was considered the entry point for gaming for most kids, but the game has changed now that mobile has moved into that position," said by the industry analyst for Video and PC games at the NPD group.

"This may be related to a change in the behavior of parents that are likely utilizing mobile devices for tasks that were once reserved for computers," he added.

Furthermore, the report said that 41 percent of the children are now spending more time in playing games on their mobile devices, compared last year.  It was found that the average time by which children play games on their gadgets have increased to 6 hours per week.

The report also said that children who play new-generation consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have increased as well.
