Facebook To Release News App Similar To Twitter's

Facebook is reportedly working on a separate mobile news application for devices. The coming app, which is similar to that of Twitter is part of the company's move in its business initiatives which it announced last year.

Facebook seems eager to go deeper in the news business and compete with Twitter which has a strong hold in the said field. The app enables users to get updated and follow specific topics and receive instant alerts in a maximum of 100 characters of text about breaking news. Users will have the opportunity to create their own feed and alerts from specified partner sources.

Reports reveal that the tech company is now testing the new app and is now in the alpha stage. The Twitter-like app can be started after users download it and select news topics and participating publications they want to follow.

The Instant Articles program of the multinational company helped it during the experimenting process. The company wishes to create a better version than Twitter's product. The latter's app displays a reverse-chronological feed which presents the newest updates on the top. The order is disadvantageous to some because it does not help users identify interesting or important content and banal status updates.

Learning from its rival company, Facebook will control the order of the updates though the reverse will still happen just as frequent. The company will implement attractive features it uses in some of its other apps.

However, users are concern about the extent of difference Facebook will apply in the coming news app. Many users love the unique design of the app of Twitter. They hope that the California-based company will take tips from Twitter.

The coming breaking news app will be a new addition to Facebook's portfolio of apps which include Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. With the company's 1.44 billion monthly active users, overpowering the app of Twitter is not impossible.
