Facebook Video Sharing: Company Adds Updates For Service

Facebook has recently added new tools for video publishers that provide more customization options to enhance video distribution. The company has introduced two new updates that will aid them in growing their business on the social media platform.

Facebook has posted the updates on their official blog site which include a new upload system for videos and a Video Library. The former improves the upload flow of videos while the latter gives centralized place where users can manage their videos.

The features allow the users to create restrictions in the sharing of videos. Users can publish secret videos which cannot be searched for. Only viewers who have the direct URL of can watch the video. Users can also prevent video embedding on any websites.

The social network company is determined to level with YouTube in terms of offering video sharing services. Making the platform a one-stop for all types of content seems to be the goal of the company.

In the previous year, Facebook gained over 4 billion views each day and began auto playing videos on every user's newsfeed including a revenue sharing system.

Facebook does not offer a tool for copyright identification which will automatically identify if a video is stolen. Youtube provides the said service giving them an advantage over its rising competitor.

Lack of copyright identification tool is disadvantageous for the original publisher of a particular video since manually hunting thefts and flagging them is required. Facebook is giving people an opportunity to steal videos of other users.

Despite the efforts of Facebook to entice publishers, the added features are too basic and are just the minimum standards required by video creatures. To catch up with Youtube, the company still has to invest a lot to improve their video sharing feature.

The 1.18 billion monthly active users of the social media site are their advantage. This large number are all potential publishers of the Facebook's video sharing service.
