Chris Pratt's 'Jurassic World' Unveils New Clip, Predicted $100M Opening at Box Office

Universal Studios and Legendary Pictures have just a released a new clip from their eagerly awaited summer tent pole Jurassic World. The clip, which is streaming exclusively on Yahoo! Movies, shows Guardian of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt's character Owen Grady rushing to the aid of a co-worker who has caught the eye of a pack of hungry raptors.

Box office analysts are bullish on the film's opening weekend. Variety is predicting receipts upwards of $100M for the Dinosaur laden summer blockbuster. In 2015, only Disney's superhero throw down 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and Universal's own 'Furious 7' have breached the nine figure mark during their opening weekend. Lofty company for a franchise that has been without a new instalment for over 10 years.

Variety cites the film's strong marketing campaign as the driving force behind the fervent anticipation for the film. The magazine says: "Promotional materials for the tent pole, based on the Michael Crichton novel, have shrewdly played on nostalgia, with trailers prominently featuring shots of the park's iconic jungle gates and a piano version of John Williams score, while also introducing new dinosaurs such as the hybrid creature Indominus rex. Posters have included Pratt flanked by velociraptors and an arresting image of an aquatic reptile called a Mosasaurus about to chow down on a shark."

Jurassic World, the latest film in the franchise created by Steven Spielberg in 1993, takes us back to the famous park which has now been operating successfully for 10 years since the events of the previous films. The plot concerns a new dinosaur that was created to revive flagging interest in the park but now threatens the lives of its workers and tourists.

Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) will be joined by Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help, Spider-Man 3), Ty Simpkins (Insidious, Iron Man 3), Jake Johnson (Let's Be Cops, "New Girl"), Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer), Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man), Vincent D'Onofrio ("Daredevil," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent"), BD Wong (Jurassic Park, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Intouchables), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Tomorrowland), Katie McGrath (NBC's "Dracula," "Merlin"), Lauren Lapkus (Blended, The To Do List) and Andy Buckley (Bridesmaids, The Other Guys).

Director Colin Trevorrow's take on the franchise arrives in 3D, 2D, and IMAX theaters on June 12, 2015.
