'Canada Ground Beef Recall 2012: XL Foods Inc. Resuming Normal Operation by the End of Week?
A few days ago, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a restricted license to XL Foods' Brooks, Alberta facility, allowing processing about 5,100 carcasses that were in the plant at the time of its closure due to E. coli bacteria contaminated ground beef. Now the CFIA announced that if XL Foods' control plan works effectively and consistently, they would permit the facility to resume its normal operations - even before the end of the week. -
'Peanut Butter Recall List 2012: Raw and Roasted Peanuts Recalled, Sunland’s List Extended
Portales, New Mexico-based Sunland Inc. once again expanded their list of recalled peanut butter products that was caused by salmonella illnesses spreading to 19 states. The 71 added products do not only include peanut butter and related products, but now also raw and roasted peanuts. The recall list that began with Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter quickly grew to about one hundred Sunland products and was recently extended to 240 products. -

'Canada Ground Beef Recall 2012: XL Foods Says All Problems Fixed, CEOs Not Available For Comments
XL Foods, the company responsible for a huge beef recall in Canada and the U.S., said that it has fixed all the problems and claimed that it finished what the Canadian Food Inspection Agency ordered it to do. Several cases of E. coli led to an in-depth investigation at a slaughterhouse in Alberta, that revealed severe problems at the facility, including leaky pipes, clogged water nozzles, a smelly drain, "insufficient record keeping" and no process for handling what happens when bacteria are found on products that have already been shipped to clients.
