Everything needs a makeover once in a while even TV shows and that is what FOX network did with one of their famous television show. Fox changed the look of the show "So You Think You Can Dance" for its 12th season and it is different from its familiar look and format.
"So You Think You Can Dance" will be back next summer with its new format. This time the show features stage versus street format. The dancers will be divided into two teams in which one team will be trained as street dancers. They will be taught hip-hop, break dancing or animation. While the other team will be trained as stage dancers, they will be taught tap dancing, jazz, ballet and contemporary dance.
Each team will be composed of 10 street dancers and 10 stage dancers and every live episodes each week, one dancer will be eliminated from each genre.
Nigel Lythgoe, co-creator and executive producer of the show said to an interview with "EW" that with the new format the competition will be more exciting for the viewers and challenging for the dancers. With the new format, the show will make the dancers more competitive and will give their absolute best during their performances. .
According to Simon Andreae, Fox Broadcasting Company's Executive Vice President for Alternative Entertainment, the show "So You Think You can Dance" can be considered as a rare jewel because it has a combination of high art and mass entertainment. It is sophisticated and satisfying. The show developed as one of the unscripted shows in the television to have deservedly devoted followings. "So You Think You Can Dance" will be returning to its regular schedule with a new thrilling format and will introduce a whole new set of opportunities for the aspiring dancers.
