Jack Bruce Bass - He was argued to be the best bass player in the world and at the age of 71 years old, the Cream Band founder has passed away after suffering from a liver disease.
Jack Bruce is especially known for his contribution and foundation of Cream. It was in 1966 that not only Jack Bruce, but also Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker formed the trio that would become Cream.
In the band, Jack Bruce played the bass and also did most of the main vocals. He is very well-known for being the composer, together with Pete Brown, a lyricist, of Cream's greatest hits like: "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Love" and "I Feel Free."
Another particularity that this band had was that Cream only lasted for two years. They started in 1966 and broke up in 1968. There are not a lot of bands that last for such a short period of time and have the impact that Cream had.
Other well-known bands and players were influenced by Cream, such as Led Zeppelin, and players, such as Sting. The two members of Cream that continued their career as soloists and are still very well-known are Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton.
As for his disease, Jack Bruce had an addiction problem with drugs in the late 1970's and then in 2003, he suffered of liver cancer and had to undergo a liver transplant. Apparently, the new liver had some time adjusting to the Bruce's body.
The bassist's body even rejected the new liver and then everything ended up with a positive outcome at the time. It happened this year and more precisely today, that Jack Bruce's liver suffered and he died.
The last album that he released was called "Silver Rails," which came out on March this year. It was his 14th studio album and he was very excited at the time, as he shared with Rolling Stone.
"It is with great sadness that we, Jack's family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him," The Guardian noted on the statement released.
Jack Bruce, the world-known bassist, will be remembered by his family and by the rest of the fans as well.
