KFC Korea gives Western users yet another proof that Asian restaurants are just where the oddest and most interesting dishes in the fast food industry make their appearance. The latest KFC Korea stunt is a sandwich with no bread, but rather fried chicken "buns," with a bacon-topped beef patty, not for the faints of heart - literally!
KFC Korea evidently has no health concerns in its agenda, or at least isn't really showing them around. The latest sandwich made by South Africa's Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise might not be a feast to the bloodstream, but it certainly looks delicious - in a highly guilt and cardiac arrest-inducing kind of way, that is.
The new KFC Korea burger (is it even right to call it a burger if it doesn't have actual buns?) has a name that translates to "Zinger Double Down King," according to UK's The Independent. It went on sale on October 18 and contains 750 calories.
The new addition to the KFC Korea menu is a composition based on a now-classic KFC burger, first released back in 2010, which also features a breadless sandwich - it was supposed to be a limited edition item but has kept coming back to KFC venues worldwide since its release due to its wild popularity.
Since the Double Down burger was first released, there have been different variations of the burger in different Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants across the world. As remembered by People magazine, last year's addition to the family of burgers, "Zinger Double Down Maxx," had a hash brown, bacon and cheese between the "buns."
KFC Korea is really just the latest to jump in the bandwagon with this exotic and heart attack-inducing meal with fried chicken, pork and beef.
In other countries, KFC's creativity has shown differently - like earlier this year, when KFC Japan announced a contest where the winners could get fried a chicken-themed keyboard, USB stick, a mouse or fried chicken earrings consolation prizes.
