Paul Allen Ebola: Billionaire Donates $100 Million and Forms Website to Raise More Donations for the Fight Against Ebola Which has Reached NYC

Paul Allen Ebola pledge stands at $100 million. The co founder of Microsoft has pledged $100 million to fight Ebola even as the disease gets to New York City.

Paul Allen Ebola contribution is the biggest contribution so far from a single individual. The billionaire owner of the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trailblazers pledged to donate the huge figure as part of his role in helping curb the spread and death toll of the Ebola virus.

"Everybody feels called sometimes to really pursue a certain thing that resonates with them, and this has resonated with me," Allen said. 

Paul had already given $26 million to the effort. He also gave out $7.5 million through his foundation to the University of Massachusetts Medical School for the training of experts on how to better react to the disease.

The World health Organization admitted getting to a slow start to the Ebola virus which has infected over 10,000 people, killing more than half of them. The organization needs $1 billion to fight Ebola. The United States is spending $700 million in the fight against the Ebola. This is through sending out of troops, supplies and expertise.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg followed in the heels of the Paul Allen Ebola donation by giving out $25 million to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Paul Allen also opened a website TackleEbola.com, where donations of any amount can be raised towards the fight against the Ebola virus. He encouraged contributions of any amount towards the fight against the virus. "The Ebola virus is unlike any health crisis we have ever experienced and needs a response unlike anything we have ever seen," Paul Allen said in a statement.
